Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is BearMUN the same as BMUN?
No, BearMUN is a separately-run conference from BMUN. The primary difference is that our staffers actively compete on the collegiate Model UN circuit, whereas BMUN only hosts a conference. For this reason, BearMUN resembles a typical collegiate conference, with small committee sizes and a focus on crisis/specialized debate.
-
Can I attend as an international school?
Yes! In past years, BearMUN has hosted delegations from the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. We recommend checking out our hotels page for travel information. Please contact our Chief of Staff, External at external@bearmun.com if you require additional assistance, including visa letters.
-
Does BearMUN offer financial aid?
Yes! We offer financial aid assistance upon request and proof of financial need. The exact amount varies on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our Director of Finance at finance@bearmun.com to request more information.
-
What size will BearMUN committees be?
General Assemblies will be 40-70 delegates, Specialized Bodies will be 20-30 delegates, and Crisis Committees will be 15-20 delegates. Our committees are generally smaller than other high school conferences to foster a better learning environment, especially for novice delegates.
-
When will background guides be released?
Our team of staff is currently hard at work writing background guides! Longer committee descriptions and chair letters will be posted in late June. Background guides will be posted in late August.
-
Which committees are for novices?
Specifications of novice, intermediate, and advanced committees will be posted alongside chair letters and committee descriptions in late June. We plan to have a roughly equal distribution of committees between the three skill levels.
