Outreach Workshops

Dear Advisors,

My name is Patrick Bennett, and I have the pleasure of being your BearMUN Secretary-General this year. As I enter my term, it is my mission to foster important public speaking, research, and cooperation skills for students of all ages. In high school, I competed at over a dozen conferences across the country and led my school’s Model UN team, meaning I experienced the important educational aspects of this competition myself.

For this reason, our team is excited to introduce our Outreach Workshop program, where we provide free 1-2 hour workshops on a variety of different topics. We are able to host sessions virtually or in-person on the UC Berkeley campus. A typical workshop would begin with a short slideshow, transition into practice or a simulation, and end with feedback. As a top collegiate Model UN team in North America, our team is home to many of the most experienced collegiate delegates in the country, meaning we can train delegates of all skill levels. Our team has hosted workshops practicing moderated speeches, simulating unmoderated caucus, introducing crisis-style debate to new delegates, and more.

As BearMUN approaches, our team also plans to host a series of virtual workshops in October and November. These will primarily be oriented towards novice students and will cover all three forms of debate (GA, Specialized, Crisis). We will announce more information about these workshops in the coming months.

If you are interested in having the BearMUN team at your school, please complete the Workshop Sign-Up form here. Please include your school information, date/time preference, and requests for topic(s) for our team to cover. We look forward to meeting you and your team!

Sincerely,
Patrick Bennett
Secretary-General, BearMUN 2025
