Meet Your Chairs

Dear Delegates,
My name is Fiona Salisbury, and I will be one of your chairs for the “Regulating Cryptocurrency within the Mandate of the International Monetary Fund’ committee! Through this committee, you will learn about how the ever-changing influence of cryptocurrencies can influence global trade and policies. You will explore how problems may arise from unregulated trade, but you are also free to explore the innovative side of cryptocurrency that holds the potential for economic advancement. The role that cryptocurrency has on the future of world politics is still emerging, and your role in this committee is to explore the many ways cryptocurrencies impact our financial institutions.
I am a third year student here at UC Berkeley, and I study Global Studies, Political Science, and Korean Language. Although this is only my second year in MUN, I have loved competing in various conferences and staffing UCBMUN. I normally compete in crisis committees, but as someone who came into MUN thinking that I was 100% meant to be a GA delegate, getting the opportunity to chair this committee is one that I am super excited about! I love learning about different topics in politics, and I wanted to use this committee as an opportunity to learn more about the ever-changing world of global economics. Outside of MUN, dancing, trying all of the boba shops in Berkeley, and learning too many languages on Duolingo.
Regardless of your experience in MUN or current knowledge on cryptocurrencies, this is a committee that will challenge you to think innovatively in a challenging yet rewarding environment. I am excited for all of the ideas that you will share, and I can not wait to be your chair for BearMUN 2025!Fiona Salisbury, Chair

I am stoked to welcome you to BearMUN 2025’s General Assembly Special Session on “Regulating Cryptocurrency within the Mandate of the International Monetary Fund.” Our agenda tackles one of the thornier questions in modern finance – how to capture the promise of digital money without triggering the next global crisis. In speaking for your nations, you’ll juggle trade-offs: innovation vs. stability, financial inclusion vs. monetary sovereignty, cross-border speed vs. consumer safety. The answers aren’t tidy, but I know this exceptional group of delegates will rise to the challenge.
Although this is my third year in American collegiate Model UN, I’ve nurtured a passion for diplomacy since high school. Most recently, I participated in UChicago’s ChoMUN in their World Health Organization committee and saw firsthand how spirited debate turns strangers into allies. Earlier, I staffed the International Labor Organization committee at UCBMUN, gaining a front-row seat to the creativity delegates pour into their solutions.
A bit about me: I’m an international student in my senior year here at UC Berkeley, studying Economics and Data Science. On campus I run a consulting club called Core Consulting Group, work part time at the Recreational Sports Facility, and as a Peer Academic Coach for the Student Learning Program. This summer I also interned in Financial Analysis at Microsoft, crunching numbers that deepened my fascination with how technology reshapes money – a perspective I hope to bring to our debates in committee. Off the circuit you’ll find me on the basketball court, dabbling in graphic design, or exploring Bay Area’s best vegan food – recommendations welcome!
My goal as your chair is to foster a respectful, high-energy exploration of your country’s viewpoint on cryptocurrency regulation. Fiona and I are here for you every step of the way so feel free to reach out to us if you need anything. Looking forward to a great committee!
All the best,
Tavishi Bagaria, Chair
